WoW Forever vs Classic: what changed
Checked against beta build 1.60.1.70009, compared with Classic Era build 1.15.9.69722.
Against Classic Era, WoW Forever keeps 37,143 records the same, changes 4,694 and adds 11,198 new ones, counted over ten kinds of record from talents to flight points.
What is WoW Forever, and what changed from Classic?
World of Warcraft: Forever (WoW Forever) is Blizzard's new game alongside modern WoW and Classic, not a
season and not a new version of Classic: it runs on the original continents from level 1 to 60, set after the
Forsaken Kingdom campaign and before Molten Core, with new zones, dungeons, raids, a race and new systems added
along the road. Measured against Classic Era across the
ten kinds of record counted on this page, 37,143 are the same in
both, 4,694 changed, 11,198 are new in Forever and 15,076 are
gone from it, out of 68,111; most of what is gone is Season of Discovery content that the Classic Era build still carries, not Classic's own.
The deepest change is in the talent trees, where 67% of talents are not what
they were and 110 are new. Checked against beta build 1.60.1.70009.
Blizzard's own words on what Forever is, with their links: What is
WoW Forever. Every marker on the road below carries its own source.
Record counts from the two builds, not from play. On dungeons and raids, recipes and flight points, Same means
carried over from Classic and only what is new is counted: a zero in Changed or Gone on those rows means that
comparison has not been made yet, not that nothing moved. Every row opens for its own caveat and its named examples
in the ledger below.
Is WoW Forever Classic Plus?
Not by name. Blizzard calls it World of Warcraft: Forever, and none of its posts we hold says Classic+, the name
players have used for years for a Classic that keeps changing and moving forward. Forever is Blizzard's take on
that idea: its What's Next panel recap opens with "For years, players have wondered what new adventures could still
unfold in original Azeroth" and says that dream "is taking shape in World of Warcraft: Forever"
(Blizzard).
This page counts what it changed.
You leave Classic's road at level 1: ten of Forever's twelve markers come before level 30
Level 1 to 60, left to right. Classic's dungeons and raids sit at the content level the game gives them. Forever's
line carries only what is new, at a level that is in the build or in a Blizzard post; ten more new things have no level yet and wait in the tray under the road.
A level in the build is a content level, not the level you must be to enter.
The road runs to level 60, which is where the game ships. Beyond the beta's level 20 cap. It is in the beta build, nobody can play it yet, and it
can change before launch (Blizzard, 17 September 2026).

Talents are matched by spell, then by name, including talents that moved to another tree of the class. A matched talent counts as changed when its spell, its number of ranks, its tree, its position or what it requires is different. Game data, not tested in play.

Skyborne is one race that the beta build has once per faction; it counts once here. "Changed" is a Classic race that can now be a class it could not be.

Only new recipes are counted; changed and removed recipes are not compared yet. Blizzard says 600+ new recipes; the beta build has more because every rank and camp object is a recipe.

Faction records, not reputations: the game counts the combat groups of creatures the same way, so the count of new reputations you can earn is smaller. Names are not listed until they can be told apart.
