New Race and Class Combinations

WoW Forever adds six race-class combinations to the nine original races, plus the Skyborne race with its own faction-dependent class list (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap).

All 16 announced combinations (the six below plus the ten Skyborne ones) are in build 1.60.1.69913, and the build has no combination beyond them. The full race-class matrix, with racial abilities per race, is on Races.

All six are confirmed by name in Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap). Three go to each faction. Dwarf Shaman and Undead Paladin give each faction a class it did not have in the original race list; the other four extend classes the faction already had to a new race.

Night Elf and Tauren receive no new class in this list, and none in build 1.60.1.69913.

The Undead Paladin is tied to the Forsaken Kingdom campaign storyline. The story runs through Bandarion Keep in Tirisfal Glades, and there is a level-60 epic mount questline (Blizzard: Found Photos Panel Recap).

The timeline context: Forever is set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core (Blizzard: Carve a New Path). The Forsaken Kingdom campaign is bundled in the Warcraft Forever Collection edition.

Two Paladin baseline changes are given as examples of class changes in Forever, and they apply to Undead Paladins as much as to Human and Dwarf ones:

• Holy Strike at level 6 (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap). Game data from build 1.60.1.69913: rank 1 is learned at level 6, with eight ranks at levels 6, 12, 20, 28, 36, 44, 52 and 60.
• Consecration baseline at level 20 (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap). Game data from build 1.60.1.69913: rank 1 is listed at level 20, and Consecration is absent from the three Paladin trees in the new talent data. The Talent tag on its rank 1 line of the class page comes from the old talent table left over from Classic Era, which is unchanged in this build.

In the September 17 beta, Blizzard’s Known Issues thread lists two Paladin items: Holy Strike’s per-rank scaling “doesn’t feel satisfactory,” and the Retribution talent Vengeance incorrectly procs from periodic critical strikes (Blizzard Forums: Beta Known Issues – September 17). Both are listed as known bugs, not design. The full ability list by level is on the Paladin class page, and the trees are in the Paladin talent calculator.

The Skyborne race is neutral and its class list depends on the faction chosen at creation. Both factions’ Skyborne can be Warrior, Hunter, Rogue or Druid. Horde-aligned Skyborne add Shaman; Alliance-aligned Skyborne add Mage (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap). Build 1.60.1.69913 has them as two race records, High Order Skyborne (Alliance) and Windshaper Skyborne (Horde), with exactly those class lists. Putting the original list, the six additions and the Skyborne together, the class coverage per faction is:

Every class now has at least one new race option on at least one faction. Shaman and Mage each gain a race on both sides.

According to the general community, the Spring 2027 content phase includes “2 new class/race combos,” alongside two raids and two dungeons. Blizzard’s own What’s Next recap commits to more content after launch without naming further race-class combinations, so the Spring 2027 pair is an the general community projection at this point.

The beta caps characters at level 20 in week 1 and raises the cap to 30 later (Blizzard: Beta Now Live). Blizzard’s week 1 list names the Skyborne and Zephras Isle as testable; it does not say whether the six new combinations are selectable in the beta. All six are present in the beta build’s race-class data, which shows the data exists, not that character creation offers them. The Forsaken Paladin’s level-60 mount questline is out of reach under either cap.
