On Classic-era versions, the max camera distance command is /console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 4. The community wiki tested it on Classic 1.14.4: the default is 1.0, the maximum is 4.0, and the camera stops at 50 yards. Retail is shorter, with a default of 1.9, a maximum of 2.6 and a 39 yard limit.
