Warrior is the class whose talent trees look most like the ones you remember, and the class where reading the tooltip again matters most. The layout barely moved: seven talents changed tier, rank count or prerequisite, the fewest of any class. But of the 38 talents that keep an Era talent’s spell and can be compared side by side, 18 show different numbers at maximum rank, and several of those are different effects wearing the old name.
Everything below is from build 1.60.1.69913, compared with Era 1.15.9.69722. There are no builds and no recommendations here; the trees themselves are in the Warrior calculator.
The three trees in numbers
| Tree | Talents | Ranks | Not in the Era tree | In Era, not here | 16-point talent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arms | 17 | 47 | 3 | 4 | |
| Fury | 18 | 57 | 4 | 3 | |
| Protection | 18 | 50 | 4 | 3 |
53 talents against Era’s 52. Every tree still has seven tiers, five points per tier, and one-point talents at the 11th, 21st and 31st point; the talent at the 16th point is the one Blizzard added (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap). The talent trees overview has the same counts for all nine classes.
Four weapon specialisations became one
Era’s Arms tree spent four talents and twenty points on weapon type: Sword Specialization, Axe Specialization, Mace Specialization and Polearm Specialization. Forever has one five-rank talent in their place,
Weaponmaster at r5c3, which gives a different benefit depending on what you are holding. At five points:
- Axe or Polearm: +5% critical strike chance.
- Mace or Staff: attacks ignore 15% of the target’s armour.
- Sword: 5% chance for an extra attack on the target.
The three spells behind the old specialisations are still in the beta build, all three now also called Weaponmaster, one per weapon group. Polearm Specialization is gone entirely. Rogue’s Combat tree got the same treatment under the name Hack and Slash; see the Rogue guide.
Three talents changed trees
| Talent | In Era | In Forever | What else changed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arms, r2c4 | Protection, r2c4 | Rage cost reduction 4 → 6 at three ranks | |
| Protection, r2c4 | Fury, r2c2 | Was a 15% chance to resist Stun and Charm; now cuts the duration of Stun and Fear effects by 15% | |
| Fury, r5c1, 5 ranks | Arms, r6c1, 2 ranks | Still 0.50 sec off Slam at maximum, and now also off the global cooldown; Slam no longer interrupts your swing timer |
What is new
Eight talents in the Warrior trees use a spell that does not exist in Era at all.
Arms.
Spearing Strike is the 16-point talent: a strike for 40% weapon damage, and an extra 80% weapon damage against Giants, Dragonkin and mounted targets, which it also dismounts.
Bloodthrill (5 ranks) gives melee attacks against a target bleeding from your Rend a 2% to 10% chance to activate Overpower for one attack.
Fury.
Raging Blows is the 16-point talent and is one line long: Whirlwind also strikes with your off-hand, and Cleave costs 2 less Rage.
Boundless Rage (3 ranks) raises maximum Rage by 10, 20 or 30.
Precision (3 ranks) is a flat 1% to 3% chance to hit.
Protection.
Vanguard is the 16-point talent: Charge becomes usable in Defensive Stance.
Master of Defense (2 ranks) gives a 50% or 100% chance to generate 5 Rage when you Dodge or Parry with a shield equipped.
Focused Rage (3 ranks) takes 1 to 3 Rage off the cost of offensive abilities. The spell exists in Era but not in any Era talent tree.
Same name, different numbers
These keep the Era talent’s spell and the Era name. The column on the right is the game’s own text at maximum rank in each build.

Two-Handed Weapon Specialization dropped from five ranks to three and from +5% to +3% two-handed damage.
Improved Rend still ends at +35% Rend bleed damage, but the ranks below it are cheaper going in: 12 / 23 / 35 against Era’s 15 / 25 / 35.
The spellbook moved too
Sixteen abilities the Warrior already had read differently in this build. The ones that matter:
| Ability | Era | Forever |
|---|---|---|
| 75% less damage from melee, ranged and spells for 10 sec | 60% less damage from all attacks for 12 sec | |
| +75% block for 5 sec, blocks 1 attack | +75% block for 7 sec, blocks 2 attacks | |
| Attack speed slowed by 10% | Slowed by 20% | |
| −35 attack power for 30 sec | −49 attack power for 45 sec | |
| 12 to 14 damage at rank 1 | 20 to 24 | |
| +15 attack power for 2 min at rank 1 | +9 attack power for 3 min | |
| +3% crit, +10% damage taken, −20% threat | +3% crit, +10% damage taken. The threat reduction is gone | |
| All nearby enemies | All enemies within 10 yards |
Outside the trees
Four ability rows in the Warrior list are new against Era.
Tactical Mastery is now a baseline ability at level 14. That is why the Arms talent is called Improved Tactical Mastery and stacks on top of it.
Slam appears at level 20 as a new rank 1. In Era the first rank of Slam is learned at 30.
Victory Rush is new to the class at level 20: an instant attack usable for 20 sec after killing a non-trivial enemy, healing you for 10% of your maximum health.
Spearing Strike also appears in the ability list, as the talent above.
Beta state
The beta level cap is 20, rising to 30 later in the test (Blizzard: Beta Now Live). With one talent point per level from level 10, that is 11 points at the cap, enough to reach the 11-point talent in one tree and nothing beyond it. None of the 16-point talents above can be tested by a player in the current beta.
Blizzard’s Known Issues thread for September 17 lists glancing blow mechanics and their display as incorrect for melee and casters alike (Blizzard Forums: Beta Known Issues – September 17). Nothing else on that list is Warrior-specific.
Not settled yet
Coming soon The number of swings Flurry applies to. The game’s own text for the talent leaves that figure unfilled, so we are not going to guess it; the attack speed bonus reads 5% to 25%, against Era’s 30% for three swings.
Coming soon The trigger chance on Enrage. The rank text gives the damage bonus (2% to 10%, for 12 sec, after any damaging attack rather than only a critical strike) but not the chance.
That these trees are the ones a Forever character actually spends points in is our reading of the beta build, not something we have confirmed in game; the reasoning is in Forever talent trees. Nothing in the data points the other way, and the 16-point talents match Blizzard’s statement.
