The beta build adds a new gamepad-focused interface file for the catalog shop and updates the existing blizzard_catalogshop addon. New functions around setup, focus and refresh suggest work on controller-friendly navigation and purchase handling in the shop, while a tooltip change points players toward Battle.net privacy settings instead of an in-game opt-out. Blizzard has not announced this change yet and details may change.

Gamepad-focused CatalogShop functions

A new interface file, interface/addons/blizzard_catalogshop/blizzard_catalogshop_gamepad.lua, appears next to changes to the blizzard_catalogshop addon. Functions such as CatalogShopFocusGamepad, CatalogShopUnfocusGamepad and CatalogShopSetupGamepad point to explicit handling of gamepad focus and setup for the catalog shop UI.

Additional helpers like CatalogShopShowProductDetails and CatalogShopHideProductDetails suggest separate flows to show or hide a product details panel. Matching outbound functions under CatalogShopOutboundInterface cover focus, show and hide handling for gamepad-related frames, plus RefreshGamepadPurchaseButton and RefreshSmartNav, which may update a purchase button state and smart navigation when using a controller.

Top-level functions CatalogShopRefreshGamepadPurchaseButton and CatalogShopRefreshSmartNav mirror those outbound helpers, and a new storeButton.formatButtonTextCallback function suggests some formatting work for button text, possibly including purchase buttons. Overall, the naming points to a gamepad-aware layer on top of the existing catalog shop.

Implications for controller play

Function names like SetupGamepad, FocusGamepad and RefreshGamepadPurchaseButton suggest that catalog browsing may eventually respond more cleanly to controller focus and navigation, with product details potentially shown or hidden through gamepad-driven flows rather than only mouse clicks. This points to the catalog shop being easier to drive from a controller-centric setup.

The exact layout and interactions are not yet visible. For now, the evidence only shows interface hooks for gamepad handling, so how the final controller experience in the shop will look may still change before release.

Catalog shop personalization tooltip

The catalog shop personalization tooltip labeled CATALOG_SHOP_PERSONALIZE_OPT_OUT_TOOLTIP now reads: “If you want to opt out of personalized recommendation, please go to Battle.net Account Settings > Privacy > Personalized Recommendation.” This directly points players to account-level privacy settings instead of any in-shop toggle.

That wording suggests Blizzard wants recommendation preferences to be managed through Battle.net account settings rather than inside the WoW Forever catalog UI, which lines up with other modern account-wide privacy controls.
