World of Warcraft: Forever ships with nine new dungeons on top of the existing Classic instances. Blizzard has named eight of them and described the ninth as an excavation site (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap). Level ranges are published for only two, both of which are open in the first week of the beta.
Four of the nine are in build 1.60.1.69913 with a map, a tuning level and an encounter list: The Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Excavation Site: Wetlands and City of Dalaran. The other five have no map or encounter records yet. Every instance, new and Classic, is listed on Dungeons.
New dungeons at launch
The nine dungeons confirmed in the deep dive panel (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap), next to what build 1.60.1.69913 has for each:
| Dungeon | Level range (Blizzard) | Level in the build | Bosses in the build | Beta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | 13–18 | 13 | 4 | Open in week 1 |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15–20 | 15 | 7 | Open in week 1 |
| Excavation site | not published | 26 | 4 | Later in beta |
| City of Dalaran | not published | 28 | 9 | Later in beta |
| Blackmaw Hold | not published | not in the build | not in the build | Later in beta |
| Drowned City | not published | not in the build | not in the build | Later in beta |
| Krol’dok Stronghold | not published | not in the build | not in the build | Later in beta |
| Alcaz Prison | not published | not in the build | not in the build | Later in beta |
| Shaper’s Terrace | not published | not in the build | not in the build | Later in beta |
The level ranges for Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron come from the beta announcement (Blizzard: Beta Now Live). The build column is the content-tuning level of the map’s group-finder entry; minimum and maximum are the same value on all four maps. 13 and 15 match the low end of Blizzard’s 13–18 and 15–20 ranges. 26 and 28 are tuning levels from the build, not announced brackets.
The excavation site that Blizzard left unnamed is the map named Excavation Site: Wetlands in the game. The “Later in beta” column reflects Blizzard’s statement that additional dungeons open later in the test, not a specific date.
Coming soon Maps, levels and boss lists for Blackmaw Hold, Drowned City, Krol’dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison and Shaper’s Terrace. They are not in build 1.60.1.69913; each page fills in from the first build that ships them.
Bosses in the beta build
Encounter names for the four dungeons in the build, in the order the game lists them. Game data from build 1.60.1.69913:
| Dungeon | Encounters |
|---|---|
| The Hall of Thanes | Faldrim Anvilmar, Infurnus, Plunder, Durgen Dirgehammer |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | Witherfang, The Abandoned, The Butcher, Rath’mael, Lordaeron Captain, Viktor the Vile, Bjork |
| Excavation Site: Wetlands | Saltspine, Shadetooth, Highland Horror, Relic Guardian |
| City of Dalaran | Arcane Anomaly, Fel Ancient, Mana Devourer, Mana Elemental, Unstable Sentinel, Shade of the Archmage, Lyn the Ignored, Atrexis the Grave Knight, Mana Wraith |
Coming soon Boss loot. Drop tables are decided server-side and are not in the beta build.
Coming soon Boss abilities. This build has no Dungeon Journal, so spells are not linked to encounters.
The three dungeon challenges of the Legacy System (Novice, Experienced and Master Spelunker) name all nine new dungeons in their criteria, next to the Classic ones; see the Legacy challenge list.
Beta week 1
The beta started on September 17, 2026, with the level cap at 20. Two dungeons are testable from day one: Hall of Thanes (levels 13–18) and Ruins of Lordaeron (levels 15–20). The rest of the week 1 content is the Skyborne starting zone, Zephras Isle, and all zone content up to level 20 (Blizzard: Beta Now Live).
Blizzard states that additional zones, dungeons and the new battleground open later in the beta (Blizzard: Beta Now Live). The level cap is raised to 30 later in the test (Blizzard: Beta Now Live); which dungeons unlock with that raise has not been stated.
Blueprint recipes
Dungeons are the source of the higher-tier campsite objects. Every profession gets three campsite objects, unlocked at different skill levels, with the first available at skill 20. The higher-tier objects are gated behind Blueprint recipes that drop in dungeons rather than being sold by trainers (Blizzard: Deep Dive Panel Recap). The per-skill unlock detail is reported by the general community.
Game data from build 1.60.1.69913: 26 items named “Blueprint: …” teach the skill-140 and skill-300 Camping recipes and the Journeyman and Expert Campfire, for example
Blueprint: Fermenter and
Blueprint: Journeyman Campfire. The recipes are on the profession pages and in the Camping guide.
Coming soon Which dungeon drops which Blueprint. Drop tables are not in the beta build.
Instances in the build that are not announced
An area named Krol’dok Stronghold sits under the new zone Riverglades in the zone list. That the announced dungeon of the same name is entered there is our inference; no dungeon map exists for it yet.
Later phases
Blizzard’s official roadmap commits to more dungeons after launch without exact dates: new raids unlock on December 9, 2026, “followed by more raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content” (Blizzard: What’s Next Panel Recap).
According to the general community, the dungeon side of that roadmap breaks down as follows:
| Phase | Dungeons | Other content in the same phase |
|---|---|---|
| Spring 2027 | 2 new dungeons | 2 new raids (10m + 20m), 2 new class/race combos |
| Summer 2027 | 2 new dungeons | A revamped iconic raid, one additional new raid, expanded world content |
The Spring/Summer 2027 split is the general community’s reading, not a Blizzard commitment. The general community also projects “4–6 phases with 2–4 months” between updates; that is their extrapolation.
