What changed in Forever

In Classic Era 1.15.9, the description gave Shadow Bolt 60 to 100 Shadow damage. Forever 1.60.1 raises both ends of that damage span. The change is more than a fresh turn of phrase: whether the bolt lands at the lower or upper end, its damage has moved upward.

Range makes the more dramatic move, from 30 yd in Classic Era to 100 yd in Forever. For you, that means less distance to close before this spell can reach an enemy. Damage changes the impact of the hit; reach changes where you can deliver it. Taken together, those adjustments make positioning a particularly interesting part of this update, rather than leaving the comparison entirely about the size of the hit.

Who uses it

Players who like to leave room between themselves and their target will appreciate the extra reach. There is a particular pleasure in choosing your ground, finding your moment, and sending a bolt across the gap. This update suits that taste for distance without asking you to linger over the cast.
