Spell Spotlight Changed in Forever

Lava BurstMolten lava, with a different promise

Lava Burst changes its bargain with Flame Shock in Forever, trading a guaranteed critical strike for increased damage.

There is nothing subtle about hurling molten lava at your target. Lava Burst brings that direct, fiery satisfaction to Forever, dealing 143 to 185 Fire damage. The spell has a wonderfully straightforward identity: you send the heat toward your enemy, and the impact does the talking.

The interesting part lies in the promise behind that impact. This is a spell worth reading carefully, especially if you remember its earlier wording. The change concerns how it rewards you for having another spell on the target, and that deserves more attention than a familiar name alone.

What changed in Forever

In Classic Era 1.15.9, the description promised that Lava Burst would deal a critical strike if your Flame Shock was on the target. Forever 1.60.1 replaces that conditional guarantee with 20% increased damage. The connection between the spells remains, but the reward is now a damage bonus rather than the promised critical outcome.

The Forever side of the comparison also gives the attack its own damage wording: you hurl molten lava, dealing 99 to 127 Fire damage. Together, these changes put the emphasis on the attack and its conditional increase. For you, the important distinction is the kind of payoff to expect, not simply whether the familiar pairing still matters. Read the new promise on its own terms rather than carrying the old expectation into your next cast.

Who uses it

If you enjoy attacks with a little setup behind their payoff, this spell has that appeal. It suits the player who likes to pay attention to the target rather than treating every cast as an isolated action. There is satisfaction in knowing why an attack earns its extra bite.
